Welcome to the SVGO

🎮 Join the Scottish Video Game Orchestra! 🎻

Scotland’s first dedicated video game orchestra is recruiting!

Ever wanted to bring the worlds of gaming and orchestral music together? Whether you grew up exploring Hyrule, battling through Halo, wandering the world of The Witcher, or saving the world one Pokémon at a time, the Scottish Video Game Orchestra (SVGO) is here to bring the music we love to life.

Founded in 2026, SVGO is a new orchestra dedicated to celebrating the incredible music of video games. From epic orchestral soundtracks to nostalgic gaming classics, we’re bringing musicians together to share our love of gaming, make brilliant music, and give these soundtracks the concert-hall treatment they deserve.

🎼 Who can join?

We welcome musicians playing orchestral instruments to apply, provided they meet our minimum playing standard of Grade 7 or equivalent.

Membership is offered on a first-come, first-served rolling basis, subject to meeting the required standard and places being available. To help us assess suitability, applicants will be asked to submit a short playing video.

We also invite applications to audition for principal positions. If you fancy leading a section and helping shape the sound of the orchestra, we’d love to hear from you!

📅 What's the commitment?

We know you have lives outside the orchestra (and probably a rather extensive gaming backlog), so we've designed SVGO to be manageable alongside work, study, and other musical commitments.

• One concert per term

• Two or three all-day Saturday rehearsals per term

• Rehearsals will primarily take place at Dunfermline Learning Campus.

Our aim is to create an exciting, focused, and welcoming environment where we can work hard, make fantastic music, and have a great time doing it.

💷 Membership subscriptions

• Standard subscription: £60 per term

• Concessionary subscription: £40 per term

We believe that financial circumstances shouldn't prevent talented musicians from taking part. Financial assistance is available for those experiencing financial hardship who would otherwise be unable to join without support. Please get in touch if this applies to you; enquiries will be treated sensitively.

🚀 Ready to join the party?

Whether you're a seasoned orchestral player, a passionate gamer, or someone who thinks the best music ever written might just come with a boss fight, we'd love to hear from you.

Bring your instrument. Bring your enthusiasm. Bring your love of game music.

Let's make some legendary music together.
